  • ة ( taa' marbuuTa ) is a variant of the letter ت ( taa' ) used at the end of words. It mostly exists in grammatically feminine words. It always follows a fatHa ("a") and in pausal speech has no other sound in modern Arabic, a /t/ is added in genitive construct (إضافة ʼiDaafa ) and it changes to a normal ت (taa), when a suffix is added.
